For this assignment, you are continuing your role as a crime analyst for a police department that employs 200 sworn officers and 75 civilian personnel. Your city has recently been experiencing a rash of residential burglaries in numerous communities throughout the city. You have been asked by the Chief of Police to help analyze this data and work with police to determine where they should be placing their resources in order to catch the criminals. Construct a report to the Chief of Police and Mayor of your city proposing how you will go about this task.
Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:
- Find existing data or create your own data and import the data into the mapping software. Note: You can use existing streets from your own communities, states, etc.
- Include the time of day and location of the burglaries.
- Plot all of the data on the map.
- Circle the specific hot spots where the majority of the burglaries are taking place.
- Copy and paste the map into your report.
- Analyze the findings based on your data and map.
- Provide two (2) suggestions in your report as to when you will assign your police officers to these areas and what time of day. Note: Include any other characteristics they should look for based on witnesses and reports).
- List three to four (3-4) types of surveillance tactics you would recommend based on your data. Note: Be sure to discuss manpower, number of officers needed, budget issues, request equipment, etc.
- Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

- Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
