Bias in New Media and Its Impacts on Public Political Opinion and Major Decisions Making

Bias is rampant in the New Media that we consume. Some of this intentionally bias. Some otherwise unintentional and invisible. These unintended forces are due to what news topics we see more frequently and can depend solely on algorithms set up on social media that closely monitor our clicks, likes and ‘shares’ online, making omissions of what it “thinks we don’t like” while claiming the intent is to cater to our personal interests. This alone filters and restricts our information flow. Unfortunately, this is not the only filtration and alteration of information delivery that we experience. Many different techniques of manipulation are employed in New Media outlets when delivering information and news that are made to effect the pathos, emotional responses and inevitably the major decisions of the public.
