Leadership style in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Leadership style in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The objective of this midterm is double-fold; help you explore and analyze the leadership style in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and encourage you to do some introspection as you reflect on your personal management and leadership development personal paths. This midterm will account for 25 % of your final grade and is due on October 26th, 2016. Your midterm includes answering the following questions after critically reading and analyzing Personalize Your Management Development Harvard Business Case, by Natalie Shope Griffin that can be accessed through the link provided earlier in this syllabus. To complete this midterm and answer the following questions you are expected to reflect on the status of management and leadership in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. You are free to choose the context of leadership that you would like to develop, i.e., leadership in politics, business, arts, sciences, and so on. You are also expected to perform some in-depth thinking and personal reflection on who you are as a person, and as a potential future leader. While answering the questions, you are highly encouraged to be your own person and an independent thinker. Although you are expected to apply concepts from class, readings, and the textbook, you are strongly encouraged to reflect on your local context, backgrounds, and culture. Therefore, please write your own case and answer the questions in a manner that reflects your own logic, rationale, and approach to life and career.
After critically analyzing the previously mentioned Harvard Business Review Case, please reflect on the following questions:
What types of leaders are most common in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia? Why do you think this is the case? What type of training and development approaches/methods do you think are needed and why?
What type of a leader do you think you currently are and why? What type of a leader would you aim to be and why? What training and development approaches/ methods do you think you will need to progress towards your desired/ultimate leadership style?
This is an individual assignment. The body of your report must use 1 line spacing with 12-point, Times New Roman font, must not exceed 10 pages.
